Case Study: David
Background
David appeared on the surface to have it all. A successful businessman, well-connected socially, and a loving father to his children, but privately, he was struggling with a destructive pattern of alcohol dependency.
Despite his professional success, David described himself as a “functioning alcoholic.” After separating from his wife, he used drinking to fill the emotional gaps. His evenings were often spent at the bar, buying drinks for friends, friends who quickly disappeared when the rounds stopped.
Financially, he was spending between £1,200 and £1,400 a month on alcohol. Emotionally, he felt stuck between guilt, loneliness, and denial. He recognised that his health was deteriorating and feared losing the most important thing in his life, his relationship with his children.
Approach
We decided against using hypnotherapy and instead focused on reconnecting David with his sense of purpose and discipline. He had always loved boxing and fitness, so we reignited that passion as a foundation for rebuilding his self-belief.
Using the #BVOMT framework- Beliefs, Values, Opportunities, Motivation, and Time, we worked through the limiting patterns that kept him trapped. David came to understand that becoming his Best Version Of Myself Today wasn’t about perfection, but about showing up differently for himself and for those he loved.
Outcome
David has now been sober for over 16 months. His energy, focus, and confidence have returned, and his relationship with his children is stronger than ever. He’s not just free from alcohol, he’s rediscovered his identity, self-respect, and the ability to enjoy life on his own terms.
